Central Registration System (CRS)

Playgroup

Maribyrnong City Council's Early Years Team provides a Central Registration System (CRS) as a single point of entry to fair, transparent and equitable access to early years services for all eligible children.

All local community based children’s services participate in the CRS, working in partnership with Council to facilitate registrations for Long Day Care, and Four-year-old Kindergarten and Three-year-old Programs in the City of Maribyrnong.

Registrations can be made anytime after the birth of a child.

• A child must be at least four-years of age on or before 30 April in the year they are eligible to attend four year old kindergarten.
• A child must be three years old prior to attending a three-year-old program.

Families are encouraged to:

• Contact services and arrange to visit before completing an application form and only nominate services where a place will be accepted if offered.
• Attend the three-and-a-half-year-old Maternal and Child Health visit with their child, if not already done so, before starting kindergarten.
• Check their child's immunisation is up to date prior to enrolling in long day care or kindergarten. For more information, click here

Application Fee

A non-refundable fee of $20 per child is required with each application. There is no charge for families with a valid Commonwealth subsidy card/s and some visas.

How to Apply

Families can apply online or complete an application form (below) for each child.

Families applying online for the first time need to create an account and have electronic copies of the required documents ready. The portal identifies the family by the login email address and unique password. If the password is forgotten a temporary password will be sent to the email address upon request. Follow the on screen instructions to create a new password.

When completing an online application please ensure it is filled correctly, electronic copies of the required documents are uploaded and the application fee is paid (where applicable) before submitting to Maribyrnong City Council.

After the application is submitted, families will receive an email confirming the application.

Once the application is processed by Council Families will be able to view their current registration details, add or withdraw registrations, update their details as required including nominated service preferences, respond to kindergarten offers and make online enquiries at any time.

If you have difficulties logging into the portal please call 9688 0116 or email earlyyearscentralregister@maribyrnong.vic.gov.au.

Priority of Access Criteria

Priority of Access criteria are used to ensure fair, equitable and transparent allocation of Long Day Care and Kindergarten places for all eligible children.
This recognises Commonwealth Government, State Government and local area criteria. Priority of Access Criteria

Assisting Vulnerable Children and Families

The CRS and partner services support State and Commonwealth Government policies to promote participation of all eligible children, including those that research demonstrates are less likely to be enrolled in early years services. Vulnerable children and families referred to CRS are:

  • Given highest Priority of Access
  • Not held back if unable to provide supporting documentation on application or when allocating places
  • Continuously flagged through updating of data and CRS allocation procedures
  • Referred to and supported by professionals working with vulnerable families with prior consent, such as local area Family Services, Early Years Networks and Referral Agencies/Organisations

Some families and children may identify as vulnerable because of their particular circumstances. This may include children from families with a low income or experiencing problems with housing, domestic violence, substance abuse or mental health; having a young or sole parent, or a parent with a disability. Families that identify with any of the above circumstances may contact Maribyrnong City Council - Early Years on 9688 0116 for assistance.
