Young Writers Competition

Maribyrnong Young Writers Competition

Get ready for the third annual Maribyrnong Young Writers Competition!

Young writers are invited to enter their short story into the Maribyrnong Young
Writers Competition. This is the third year the writing competition is being held as
a partnership between the Rotary Club of Yarraville and the Maribyrnong Library
Service. All entrants must be residents or students in Maribyrnong, or be a member
of the Maribyrnong Library Service. All entrants must be in Prep to Year 6 in 2016,
may be required to provide proof of age, and must submit only one entry.

Entries Open 12 September - 7 October 2016

The competition has 3 entry categories:

Category 1 - Prep to Grade 1 (Maximum 500 words)
Category 2 - Grades 2-3 (Maximum 500 words)
Category 3 - Grades 4-6 (Maximum 750 words)


–– Prep to Grade 1 - $60 cash and a book voucher
–– Grades 2 to 3 - $80 cash and a book voucher
–– Grades 4 to 6 - $100 cash and a book voucher
–– Highly commended - in addition to category winners, some entries may be
selected for additional book voucher prizes

Read Away Your Winter Woes

Are cold winds and pouring rain giving you the blues? This season we challenge you to read away your winter woes.

Every time you read a book, magazine or graphic novel, submit a book review and go in the running to win some awesome prizes!

Submit your reviews online by clicking here or follow the QR code on the posters in your local branch. Competition ends September 30.

For ages 12 - 19 years.

Lego Club

Lego Club

Come along to build, play and meet other lego fans! Lego Club will run during school terms, once per month on a Tuesday from 4 - 5 pm at West Footscray Library.
