Budget 2014-2015 Highlights

  • $41 m for capital works and infrastructure
  • $12.5 m to complete Braybrook Community Hub
  • $6.8 m for roads and footpaths
  • $4.7 m to complete Maidstone Children and Family Services Hub
  • $3.4 m for Building Asset renewal
  • $3 m towards the ‘Saigon in Footscray’ initiative
  • $2 million for parks and gardens upgrades
  • $1 m on bicycle and walking pathways
  • $1 m for the Maribyrnong River projects at Mills Close and Pipemakers Park
  • $400,000 for carpark upgrades
  • $350,000 for traffic management programs
  • 70% increase in Council’s pensioner rebate scheme - the highest increase in Victoria
  • 1,600 new trees will be planted
  • New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Footscray Park as a permanent annual Festival City event
  • 4.7% rate rise, comprised of a 2% component for Infrastructure upgrades and 2.7% component for CPI cost increases and serviced enhancements.
