Kindergartens (preschools) provide a service for children who turn four years of age before the 30th of April. Kindergartens provide a caring and educational program that promotes the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of the child. Programs are sensitive to the needs, cultural background and values of families. Morning and afternoon sessions are available.
Parents play an important part in the day to day administration of kindergartens as members of the Committee of Management. The opportunity exists for parents to be actively involved in their child's development by participating in the program.
Fees are determined by the kindergarten. A fee subsidy may be available from the State Government (for details refer to Fee Subsidy link below).
