The City of Maribyrnong is an area of great diversity. The City has the second most ethnically diverse population in Victoria, with 40% of residents born outside Australia. Residents come from more than 135 different countries and speak over 80 languages. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people account 0.5% of Maribyrnong City's population, with other Aboriginal people coming to the area for work, study, leisure and to access services. People with a disability are important members of our community. One in five residents have a disability and there are many disability support agencies including schools, industry and health organisations providing support in the municaplity.
