Volunteering for the Maribyrnong Library Housebound Service

The library is interested in expanding the Housebound Library Service through the use of volunteers. The Housebound Library Service is available to eligible residents who are unable to attend the library due to illness, disability and frailty and do not have someone who can do this for them.
Home library visits are scheduled on a regular basis, usually once a month.
The library is now seeking suitable volunteers who have a positive approach, desire and an interest in working with aged, frail and disabled residents. Interested applicants are required to attend an initial information session, to be followed by a formal recruitment process . Volunteers are required to use their own vehicle for this volunteer work. Note that there is no reimbursement for any costs incurred in the course of this volunteer role.

Please register HERE to attend the information session

Friday 21 August 10.00-11.00am
Footscray Library Conference Room

For further information please contact Charlotte Henry (Monday or Friday) Ph 9032 4203

Knitting Groups

We are seeking community minded residents to participate in knitting groups across all library branches and community centers. All are welcome from beginners to experienced knitters.

The knitting groups will be launched in August across all centres, with groups potentially meeting weekly to talk about projects and techniques over a cup of tea.
A special event “Women Wept” an Anzac centenary project funded by the Australian Government under the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program will provide an initial focus for the groups, to commemorate the role of women in WW1.
Stay tuned for further updates.
