Challenge to Change is a FREE community program providing practical advice to everyone on how to switch from climate-damaging to climate-friendly lifestyles. Following our successful challenge in May, where some participants saved up to 40% of their household’s greenhouse emissions, we are again asking residents to take up the challenge for one week to reduce your gas, electricity and fuel use. Many rebates are available through the State and Federal Government to assist residents reduce the impacts of climate change. These financial contributions are great incentives to purchase energy and water efficient technologies without breaking the budget.

Massive water savings achieved at Council’s Municipal Offices

Water in the Maribyrnong River

Council has transformed its Municipal Offices in Footscray from a high water use building to a water saving building.  A total water savings of 67% has been achieved. This equates to approximately 2.5 million litres per year since 2005/6 (67%) - equivalent to 2.5 Olympic size swimming pools.
