Annual Community Survey 2017

We engaged Metropolis Research Pty Ltd to conduct the Community Satisfaction Survey 2017(PDF, 1MB) on behalf of Council.

The data collection for the Survey has been completed and results are attached below.

Snapshot of survey results

  • Satisfaction with Council’s overall performance scored at 6.60, and remains categorised as ‘good’. Overall satisfaction is up 1.5% on 2016 and higher than the metropolitan average with the 3rd highest score since 2004.
  • The services that the community is least satisfied with include parking enforcement, traffic management, maintenance & cleaning of Footscray CBD and public toilets.
  • Satisfaction with “Council’s performance meeting its responsibilities towards the environment” scored at 6.95 (up from last year 6.71) and is categorised as “good”.
  • The most commonly identified issues in 2017 were “traffic management”, “car parking”, “building, housing and development”, “road maintenance and repairs” and “safety, policing and crime”.
  • The perception of safety in the public areas of the City during the day remains high, and increased marginally at night.
  • Satisfaction with “Council’s performance promoting gender respect and equity” is rated at “very good”.
  • Satisfaction with customer service increased marginally and average satisfaction remains ‘good’, quite an improvement since 2016.
