Anderson Street, Yarraville Traffic Study

  • Project typeTraffic Study & Data Collection
  • Project schedule6-12 December 2021
  • Completion Date30 June 2022

Anderson Street, Yarraville is a busy street in the City of Maribyrnong, connecting Williamstown Road to neighbouring streets in Yarraville, and is occupied by both residential and commercial properties.

It also houses Yarraville Village, a bustling precinct of local eateries, and the Yarraville train station, which includes an at grade level crossing on Anderson Street.

Metro Trains Melbourne and Maribyrnong City Council are studying current traffic movements in the area to understand transport issues in the area, with data collected and analysed to identify opportunities for safety improvements to support vehicle and pedestrian movements. We’ll be using cameras affixed to existing light poles and traffic monitors on the ground to gather data.

The data collection will be undertaken over a period of a week, and the three study types being conducted are:

  • Queue surveys
  • Turning movement counts
  • Origin destination surveys

The map below illustrates the various locations for turning movements counts, queue observation counts and origin destination surveys.

Note: The survey was due to take place from 12-26 July but has been delayed due to scheduling issues with the contractor and the Victorian COVID-19 lockdown. Further details, including the new study dates, will be announced shortly.
