We’re working with our local restaurants, cafes and bars to fast track applications where we can to set up outdoor areas to continue trading when COVID-19 restrictions further ease.
This applies both to businesses that already have footpath trading in place but want to extend seating and dining and seating to neighbouring properties and where businesses may wish to utilise laneways and streets for outdoor dining.

While restrictions may be easing, it’s still not business as usual for traders with physical distancing continuing to restrict the number of patrons at restaurants and cafes. That’s why Council is working with businesses to increase their footprint outside, enabling an increased number of patrons to dine at a safe 1.5 metre distance from each other.
Council may consider temporary part or full street closures to provide opportunity for adjacent restaurants and cafes to expand their outdoor dining services.
Businesses can apply to expand their hospitality services onto footpaths by completing the Street Furniture Extended Trading application form.
