16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Taking place annually from 25 November to 10 December, the international 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign is a time to come together and take action to end the world’s most persistent violations of human rights – violence against women and girls, and all other forms of gender-based violence.

This year’s campaign at Maribyrnong is a call to action, and we will be delivering a number of activities along with participating in the Respect Victoria Respect Women: Call it Out campaign and the regional 16 Days of Allyship campaign, to provide Maribyrnong staff and community members with many opportunities to learn and reflect on their role in preventing gender-based violence and to feel empowered to take action.

Our annual participation in 16 days of Activism is a key action in our Towards Gender Equity 2030 strategy. The Strategy sets out our vision, whereby all people in Maribyrnong flourish and live free from violence and discrimination and have equal status, rights, opportunities, representation and respect, regardless of their gender.
