Home maintenance class for women

In these three hands-on sessions you’ll learn how to hang pictures and curtain rails, change washers, fix door handles, attach door stoppers, apply grout, and basic electrical skills.

Ever wanted to learn how to sew? This program will introduce you to all the basics of sewing. Start with making a bag and progress to creating simple clothing for you and your family.

Learn simple and easy techniques such as taking up hems on pants or skirts, letting out a waistband, repairing seams or shortening sleeves. Bring along your garment for alteration.

Beeswax wraps workshop

Come and learn how to make environmentally friendly beeswax wraps. They are reusable, washable, and a sustainable alternative to single use plastics like cling wrap. They can be used to cover left overs in a bowl, wrap sandwiches, cheese, bread etc.

Continental cake and deli tour

Join us on our mystery continental cake and deli tour of the west. One minibus, eight people, four stops! We promise it will be fun as we weave in and out of the streets of Maribyrnong so you can sample mouth-watering delights from around the world!

KOGO (Knit One Give One)

KOGO is a non-for-profit organisation that asks volunteers to donate time and wool to knit warm winter woollies that they can distribute to people in need through over 250 community groups. Help KOGO spread the warmth by picking up your knitting needles/crochet hooks and making a scarf, beanie or blanket.

Ever wondered about the basic maintenance of your car? Come and learn how to change your tyres, spark plugs, oil filters and other handy tips! Jane will make you feel comfortable talking you through the steps.

All you budding sewists come and learn how to use a sewing machine and other techniques. After four fun-filled sessions you’ll walk away having made a zip pouch, a reversible sling bag and a great top! No experience required.

Whether it’s a La Niña year this year or not, drought is set to be more the rule not the exception in the future. In the city we can still grow much of our own food through water efficient planning and gardening.

Beginners guide to composting

Learn the art and science of how to team with worms and microbes to turn waste into rich organic topsoil — the cornerstone of organic gardening and ultimately human health. The session includes all theory you’ll need to deal with most common problems, and then hands-on demonstrations on compost making, and how to set up and maintain a worm farm.
