Learning Lab series is a series of workshops about all things grant and project related - and this year is even bigger than the last.

The series is designed to support people develop grant writing skills, project development, networking & budgeting and also includes the Maribyrnong City Council Community Grant Program information sessions.

The program is offered to Maribyrnong community who are interested in applying for grants and developing projects.

Effective Grant Writing

Tuesday 12 June, 6-9pm
Reception Room, Footscray Town Hall

This interactive and fun workshop will provide practical, useful and transferable information about how to approach grant writing. It covers writing a killer 50 word grab, developing a budget for a funding application and tackling the evaluation and sustainability questions.

The workshop will provide community with the tools to successfully design, implement and evaluate projects.

The workshop will encourage community or participants to identify their individual and community assets and explore ways to combine these valuable resources to address community priorities.

It covers:

  • Identifying your groups’ assets and priorities
  • Partnership development
  • Attracting resources and support
  • Maximising community resources to address local needs

  • Accessing demographic data and evidence through .id
  • Introduce attendees to the various data tools available
  • Explore the changing nature of Maribyrnong's community
  • Understand how to access data that will build evidence around trends and opportunities faced by our community to support program planning

This workshop breaks down a budget from income to expenditure and answers questions relating to:

  • How much to ask for
  • Getting paid

  • What happens if you don’t get what you asked for
