Draft Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure Policy 2020
Council has prepared an Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure Policy 2019 (the draft Policy) in response to the growing demand for public access to electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The draft Policy considers EV infrastructure impacts on various scenarios including:
- existing residential/commercial development
- new development
- public spaces
Potential EV charger pilot project
Alongside development of the draft Policy Council is considering a pilot project to introduce EV chargers on a number of Council sites. Potential sites recommended as part of the trial include:
- Footscray Town Hall
- Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre Paisley Street Carpark (adjacent to Footscray library)
- Council’s Operations Centre
- Victoria University Footscray Campuses
- Yarraville Business Precinct.
Community input to the draft Policy
Council has worked with EV industry representatives to inform the draft Policy. Following Council’s consideration of the draft Policy in December 2019 we are now seeking community feedback on the Policy and pilot project. To provide your feedback on the draft Policy visit Your City, Your Voice.
