Our City has a vibrant arts and creative industries sector. It is home to a significant artist population, and contains a broad array of arts organisations and creative sector businesses. It is also home to a culturally rich and diverse community that is eager to participate in and engage with the arts.

The local arts scene in Footscray is led by the dynamic Footscray Community Arts Centre (FCAC), situated on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. FCAC is a community-engaged, contemporary arts centre working with local, regional and international arts communities to present a year-round calendar of exhibitions, performance, workshops and classes. The precinct features theatre performances, workshops, a bar and cafe and gallery spaces like Five Walls.

Just up the road, you can catch a performance by Footscray's experimental theatre company Snuff Puppets at the Footscray Drill Hall, which is also home to the Women's Circus - a community arts organisation that presents innovative circus performances and workshops to a diverse audience and participant base.

The City is also home to Bluestone Church Arts Space -  a dedicated arts and performance venue which hosts a number of special live performances, creative workshops, festivals and cultural events throughout the year.

We have an extensive collection of over 200 public art works and heritage monuments, which we are building on with newly-commissioned work. There are works spread throughout the city so why not take a walk around your neighbourhood and check out the artists who have created works for Maribyrnong.
