Council has extended the due date of the first instalment of rates notices to 14 October.

The 2020/21 rates notices will be issued to all ratepayers mid-September.

Council has set a 0 per cent rate increase for the 2020-21 financial year (rather than taking up a 2 per cent increase in line with the rate cap set by the government) following the adoption of the Annual Budget and Strategic Resource Plan on Tuesday 21 July.

For ratepayers who are experiencing financial difficulties due to COVID-19, Council has introduced the COVID-19 Financial Hardship Policy.

Eligible businesses and residents make application to enter into an agreement with Council for rates to be paid by instalments; or defer payment of rates until 31 March 2021. Interest will be placed on hold until 30 March 2021 for both application options.

Council has provided $11 million in resources and assistance to the community since April 2020 through COVID-19 relief packages, a 0 per cent rate increase, in-kind support and recently announced expanded COVID-19 Business and Community Support packages.
