Overview of Hard Waste Collection Service

Hard and Green Waste Collection in Three Separate Stacks

Council provides one free pre-booked hard waste collection to residents each calendar year. We collect hard, metal and green waste. Your collection will be on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (excepting public holidays) following your booking. Hard waste collections are only available for residential properties, and are not available for commercial sites or businesses. Properties with 12 or more dwellings have different collection procedures.

What Is Collected?
We will collect furniture, electrical appliances, clothing, glass, white goods (washing machine, stove, dishwasher, fridge, freezer etc.), scrap metal, grass clippings, small branches and twigs. Some items are not collected.

How Much Is Collected?
The volume limit is 2 cubic metres of hard and metal waste combined (approximately 1 standard trailer load), and 4 cubic metres of green waste.

Where Do I Stack My Waste?
The material awaiting collection should be placed in one location only, not more than 10 metres from the road, on either your front yard, front lawn, or driveway and not on the nature strip, or footpath .

Can I arrange extra collections?
Extra collections can be booked at a cost of $84.55 per collection (no pensioner concessions available). You cannot have two (2) free collections because you missed one in a previous year.

Does Council provide skip bins?
No. Check the Yellow Pages.

Do I need to be home?
By making a booking you are giving permission for our hard waste collectors to enter your property even if you are not home. Hard waste is collected in a safe and responsible manner.

What happens to hard waste after collection?
It is disposed of at Landfill. Metals and green waste are recycled wherever possible. If you think items are reusable, check our Waste Reuse and Recycling page for some suggestions.
