Naming of Unnamed Laneway in West Footscray

Council is seeking community feedback for the proposed name Menadue Lane for an unnamed laneway in West Footscray. Menadue Lane is being proposed after the Menadue Wood Yard, which once stood at 553 Barkly Street, West Footscray. The Wood Yard was owned by Mr. Frederick James Menadue, who was a prominent business person in West Footscray and conducted business on Barkly Street for many years. The Menadue family lived in Rupert Street, West Footscray in the early 20th Century. This name has been suggested by the Footscray Historical Society.
