To help us turn your garden waste into new soil and nutrient rich compost, please remember to follow the instructions below.

- Plant clippings from pruning
- Tree leaves
- Small branches
- Food waste, peels or scraps
- Plastic bags or plant pots
- Branches over 30cm long
- Dog or cat droppings
- Deceased pets or other animals
- Hoses and other garden equipment
What happens to the waste from green waste bins?
Council are part of the Back to Earth Initiative, where garden waste is recycled into healthy, nutirent rich compost for gardens and farms. By using your green waste collection service correctly, you can help create useful compost and reduce the amount of food and garden waste dumped in landfill.
The contents of your green waste bin are taken to the Veolia organic treatment site in Bulla, where they are transformed into compost and mulch.
