The following items we will take as part of your hard rubbish collection
Yes for household furniture if it can't be donated to charity
Yes to garden branches of a certain size but use a natural material to bundle them, not a synthetic item
Yes for unwanted crockery and ceramic dishes
Yes for large amounts of green waste but don't place them in plastic bags or other non-recyclable containers
Yes to small car parts and tools including garden tools
Yes up to a maximum of two mattresses or one mattress and base only. Any more than this will be left behind for you to dispose of. Take them to your nearest waste transfer station.
Yes to whitegoods such as fridges, washing machines, clothes dryers. You must ensure that doors are removed on fridges.
Yes for carpets, underlay and old or unwanted rugs
Scrap metal is a yes, and can be left out as part of your hard rubbish collection.
Yes to old electrical items such as televisions.
Yes to empty tins but please leave the lids off. Tins also make great containers for pencils, pens and other items.
Old household appliances like kettles and toasters are a yes, but if they are in working order why not take them to one of Council's free drop-off hubs.
The following items we will not take as part of your hard rubbish collection
Do not place your green waste in plastic bags or tie them up with synthetic materials
No tree stumps over 30 centimetres are acceptable, but they can be take to a waste transfer station
Domestic rubbish is not accepted as hard rubbish
Broken glass should be wraped carefully and put in your kerbside bin
Timber pallets or planks over 1.5 metres long are not acceptable
Rennovation or building materials will not be collected as part of any hard rubbish collection and should be taken to a waste transfer station
Chemicals, paints, garden insecticides need to be disposed of carefully and we recommend you visit www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/DetoxyourHome for details
Tyers, car batteriess and small car body parts are accepted at waste transfer stations but not part of hard rubbish collections
Gas bottles must be disposed of properly or they pose a high risk to people, so return them from where you get them
