Textile and electronic waste increasing
Textile waste and electronic waste, also known as e-waste, are two of the fastest growing waste categories in Melbourne.
Textile waste makes up approximately 4% of waste sent to landfill throughout Melbourne.
Electronic waste is also a growing concern and Council is committed to providing residents with electronic recycling options in preparation for the State Government’s ban of e-waste from landfill which will come into effect on 1 July 2019.
The collection service supports Council’s Waste Minimisation Strategy that aims to substantially increase our waste to landfill diversion rate from 34% to 46%.
