Nesting Box Program

Maribyrnong is home to a range of native plants and animals creating a thriving urban ecosystem. To support and expand this ecosystem, our Conservation Team is rolling out a nesting box program across our parks and reserves.

This April, we’re offering eligible residents the opportunity to secure one of 60 nesting boxes and have it installed in their own backyard! The boxes attract ringtail possums, bushtail possums and miro bats, and can be installed on a tree.

Boxes will be allocated on a first in, best dressed basis and based on the suitability of your outdoor space. Please note that apartments will not be considered. It is preferable that your garden contains one or more trees and is close to a water source, such as a creek or river.

We are now taking expressions of interest. Please complete the form below. This form must be completed in order to be considered. Expressions of interest will close 5pm Friday 14 April 2023.
