FReeZa Music Creators - Using drums samples in Abelton with MXMars

BEATS - RS.jpg

The FReeZA Music Creators workshops are designed to give young people 16 to 25 years old a chance to come and try out a range of Beats Workshops with Melbourne Sound School.

These are small one-off workshops so please register your spot below so you don't miss out!

What we will be doing

In this workshop you'll learn how to use drum samples to create your own beat in music software Ableton Live.

The workshop will start off with an explanation of the different elements of rhythm.

Then you will learn how to chop and edit drum samples to create your own beat, and how to apply effects and processing creatively.

At the end, you will resample and export your beat so you can bring it home.

You don't need any experience with music production or Ableton Live.

If you are able to, please bring a laptop with the free trial version of Ableton installed. If you aren't able to bring a laptop, please bring a USB stick.

What will we cover

  • Drums 101: time signatures, beat divisions and elements of rhythm.
  • How to chop and edit drum samples to create your own beat.
  • How to use effects like Beat Repeat and Drum Buss to process your drum samples.
  • How to resample and export your beat.

Meet the Creator
