“In the past Aboriginal people lived, worked, played sport, had meetings and performed in Melbourne's west. Today this is still happening and we are still here...”

- Larry Walsh, Still Here Exhibition Summary

The First Nations Creative Project Initiative is an opportunity for professional Indigenous artists to lead the creation and development of a new work anywhere in the City of Maribyrnong.

This initiative offers a once-off amount of $10,000 (ex GST) to support an individual creative practitioner, collective and/or organisation who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and live, work, study or have a deep connection to the City of Maribyrnong to create a new work in any artform within the municipality in 2021. The funding can be used towards the costs of new work presented or exhibited in Maribyrnong, including (but not limited to): artist fees, mentor fees, access costs such as interpreting and child care, marketing assets, materials, equipment hire, venue costs, etc.

Arts and Culture Maribyrnong will promote the project outcomes through our channels, and provide support through a series of meetings over the course of the funded project.
