Bluestone-Building-2-web.jpg

Part of Open Studios in the West

Showing in one of Melbourne's oldest industrial buildings built in 1865 on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, the Bluestone Building was saved from demolition in the 1980s by the local community. Conserved for public events and exhibitions by the Living Museum, Heritage Victoria and Parks Victoria in 2003, it is now managed by Maribyrnong City Council and the Living Museum of the West.

Taking into consideration the political and social implications of the Museum archive, second year Victorian College of the Arts Painting students will present new works that respond to the specificity of the site and the collection managed by the Living Museum of the West.
