StreetWORKS

Overview

Initiated in 2014, StreetWORKS creates innovative visual street art to enliven spaces and discourage graffiti and tagging. The program creates mutual respect in the community by engaging artists with property owners and businesses, in which street art projects can be appreciated by the wider community.

Objectives

The project is designed to provide opportunities for artists to develop new ways to express and enhance their artistic practice by activating sites in the Maribyrnong neighbourhood (i.e. railway abutments, bridges, property walls). The outcomes of the project are to:

  • Create innovative visual art in the urban environment
  • Animate identified sites
  • Discourage graffiti and tagging
  • Engage artists more closely with the community
  • Improve livability and safety in the City of Maribyrnong.

StreetWORKS 2017

In 2017 StreetWORKS is proud to be working with the following artists;

  • Julia Both - Bharat Traders, 580 Barkly Street, West Footscray
  • Mike Maka - Buzz Barbers, 547B Barkly Street, West Footscray
  • Bailer - to be confirmed
