The health and wellbeing of our community and our employees is our priority. With this in mind, we have temporarily closed our community centres, recreation centres, public libraries and Customer Service Centre until further notice. We have also cancelled or postponed all large-scale Council run or supported events until further notice.

Merry Christmas 2020

We'll celebrate Christmas in Maribyrnong with COVID-safe opportunities that will be sure to delight the young and young at heart.

Santa and Sirens

We started celebrations early this year with a photo competition inviting residents to send in festive selfie for a chance to win a visit from Santa, on a firetruck! Visit the Santa and Sirens page to learn more and take a look at all the great entries we received.

12 Days of Christmas- e-Carol

Our Christmas music video is complete! Many thanks to all that made a submission and got dancing to our very special 12 days of Maribyrnong Christmas carol written and recorded by Rebecca Barnard. We had a ball collating all your submissions and putting this video together. We hope you enjoy this terrific video clip of our community members singing and dancing as one.

Christmas Art Tour

Artist Ulla Taylor has been busy creating festive art which invites you into the picture. Have a coffee with Santa, ride on a magic carpet or give our Christmas bear a cuddle, collect all seven! Visit the Christmas Art Tour webpage for more detail and the locations of the artworks.

Primary School Trees

Our beautiful, timber Christmas trees are again installed in Nicholson St Mall, Footscray. Local primary school children at 13 of our primary schools have creatively decorated these trees for public display. Visit the Primary School Trees webpage for more detail and list of participating schools.

In addition to our activities, our City has come to life with our usual Christmas decoration displays, and this year we've add a dash more sparkle. Take a twilight wander past our Footscray Town Hall to glimpse our new twinkling lights.
