Fringe Westside: Invite Me to Play
Children are in the spotlight for this unique exploration of creativity!
Melbourne based artist Clare Walton will be inviting the children of Maribyrnong to collaborate in Footscray on a series of child-led puppetry performances and interactive installations.
Children are also invited to join Clare in the Artsbox studio to discuss their views on play and public space, create drawings and installations (using found and reclaimed objects) about what they would like to see improved, changed or added to their local public space.
The project is child led – children design and plan the performances and installations, becoming the lead artists – and uniquely explores a child’s right to participate in public space.
The works created with the children will form the basis for a final exhibition celebrating children as active citizens in their community.
Clare is the Artist-in-Residence in Artsbox for September and this project will run throughout the duration of Clare's residency, from 1-28 September 2017.
Activities take place between 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm.
