Writing About Identity: An IDAHOBIT Writing Workshop
Many stories explore identity in some way. Some writers discuss their own identity in their work, while others draw on it as a theme in their writing (e.g. something a character struggles with) or don't touch on it at all.
In this workshop, we will look at examples of how a range of writers delve into identity. We will discuss identity in relation to race, gender, sexual orientation, class and disability, with a particular focus on queer identity for IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia) 2022.
Please bring along a pen and paper or a technological device to write on and a photo (hard copy or digital) that best represents your identity. You won't need to show the photo to anyone if you don't want to. We will be doing several writing activities around the theme of identity, and you will have the opportunity to meet other young writers.
This event is suitable for ages 14 to 21.
There will also be free pizza!
Hosted by Roz Bellamy.
Bookings are essential via Eventbrite.
