We hold a range of weekly activities at our libraries for children aged up to 12 years. These are designed to be fun and educational, helping your child grow and develop in social situations.

Bookings are not required.

We hold other special events and activities, especially during school holidays.

Library membership also opens up a range of online resources for you and your child.

Summer Reading Club

Keep reading over the summer and you could go into the draw to win some amazing LEGO® prizes! Read 10 books and you can collect a Curious Creature figurine, plus enter the prize draw. Find out how it all works!

School Holiday Program

Our January holiday program ties in with this Summer Reading Club theme - Curious Creatures! Make paper plate dinosaurs, cardboard koalas, try some unplugged coding, decorate your own creature bag, or come along to a Summer Story Time.

The Maribyrnong Young Writers Competition has been judged and prizes awarded for 2018. The winning entries and those highly commended are now online to read.

1000 Books Before School

1000 Books before School is a program which encourages parents and carers to read 1000 books with their children before they begin school. Sharing stories with babies and young children helps develop literacy skills that will prepare them for reading at school.

Regular Kids Programs

Preschool Story Time

For ages 2 to 5 years.
Join us for 45 minutes of stories, songs, rhymes, and a simple craft activity. Story Time provides your child with a love and appreciation of books and an opportunity to develop language skills. Story Times are held weekly at each branch, but not during school holidays.

Baby Rhyme Time

For ages 0 to 2 years.
Baby Rhyme Time involves stories, rhymes and songs to help develop your child’s language and literacy skills, as well as their love of books and reading. Each session runs for 20 to 30 minutes.
