Reading and Book Groups

eLibrary

Our many eLibrary resources are available 24/7. You can access to eBooks and eAudiobooks with Libby and BorrowBox, films with Kanopy, magazines with PressReader and RBDigital, newspapers with PressReader and an enormous range of other online resources to keep entertained and learning during the closure. Book and Writers' Groups

Many of our book groups are currently meeting over Zoom or WeChat. If you would like to join one of the book groups, please call (03) 9688 0290 or email library@maribyrnong.vic.gov.au. We can also help you get started on Zoom or WeChat.

  • Braybrook Writers’ Group – first Friday of each month at 2-4pm via Zoom (taking a break in January)

  • Braybrook Book Group – third Tuesday of the month at 6:60-7:30pm via Zoom

  • Footscray Tuesday Afternoon Book Group – third Tuesday of the month at 2pm-3pm via Zoom

  • Maribyrnong Book Group – second Thursday of the month at 6:30-8pm via Zoom (taking a break in December/January)

  • Chinese Book Group – Fridays at 10:30am-12pm via WeChat

  • Spanish Book Group – Wednesdays at 2-3pm via phone(taking a break in December/January)

  • Spanish Parents Group – Wednesdays at 4-5:30pm via Zoom (taking a break in December/January)

  • Yarraville Writers’ Group – fortnightly on Wednesday at 1:30-3:30pm via Zoom

  • Yarraville Book Group – fortnightly on Tuesday from 7-8pm via Zoom

Borrow a Book Set

If you run a book group, we have sets of books that you can borrow. Ten copies of selected new titles can be loaned for up to six weeks. To borrow a book set, first choose a title from the list below, then call 9688 0290 or email library@maribyrnong.vic.gov.au to place a reserve on it. The books can be delivered to you as part of our Reservation Delivery Service. Download our Book Group title lists below:

Author Talks At Home

Many of our Author Talks will be uploaded to YouTube, for on-demand streaming. You can subscribe to the YouTube playlist to receive notifications when new videos are added.

Conversation Café Online

Conversation Café has moved to Zoom! In our live sessions you will meet new people and practice your conversational English with our Outreach Librarians, Chiara and Maria. It’s all about coming together, having fun and learning something new. You can check the schedule and register for the sessions on our Events page.
