Young Communities Advocates

The Young Communities Advocate position has been developed as a part of the Maribyrnong Engage! Project.

This role involves developing a project/program/activity to support the broader aims of the Children, Young People and Families Strategy 2020-2030. The project will support young people’s wellbeing, development, access, participation and voice, and work alongside the Youth Services team of Maribyrnong City Council. 

About Maribyrnong Youth Services

The City of Maribyrnong is a culturally, socially and economically diverse inner-city community. Maribyrnong City Council Youth Services deliver a variety of programs, activities and events for young people aged 12 -25 years from Phoenix Youth Centre and around the Maribyrnong region.

Eligibility

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 -25 years and must live, work, study or recreate in the City of Maribyrnong.

  • Strong connection with underrepresented communities; including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, Disabled young people, Newly arrived or refugee young people, Multicultural and multi-faith young people, LGBTQIA+ young people

Details

During the interview process you will have an opportunity to pitch us two youth specific programs that you will work on during your time with Maribyrnong Youth Services. The project can be anything related to young people in the City of Maribyrnong in celebration of the Victorian Youth Fest.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to bring their projects to life. Supported by the Senior Youth Participation and Advocacy Officer, you will create a project plan and develop your impact project within the community. Alongside your project you will also bring a young person’s perspective and community voice to inform the work of Maribyrnong Youth Services, Council and beyond.
