The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is celebrated every year by many countries in Asia. It follows the lunar calendar and falls in the middle of Autumn in countries like China, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea and Japan (but for us in Australia, it's in the middle of Spring). Known as 中秋節 (in China) or Tết Trung Thu (in Vietnam), it is also related to Chuseok (in Korea) and Tsukimi (in Japan). This year it falls on 1 October.

The festival traditionally celebrates the gathering of friends and family, good harvesting of crops and thanksgiving and good fortune during the time when the moon is the fullest and most beautiful.
