Volunteer with the Home Library Service

Published on 26 February 2021

Do you have time, a positive approach and an interest in working housebound residents? We are seeking expressions of interest from prospective volunteers to contribute to the provision of a high quality Home Library Service. Volunteers would assist in the delivery of library materials to residents who are unable to visit the library in person.

Home Library Service visits are scheduled on a regular basis. You will collect and deliver library materials once every four weeks and communicate specific reading and information needs to our Outreach Services Librarian on behalf of the client.

To ensure continuity of service to our housebound borrowers it is preferred that any volunteer makes a commitment of at least 12 months. A three month trial applies when a volunteer commences, to enable review of progress by both the library service and the volunteer.

In this role you will be required to use your own private vehicle and have a comprehensive car insurance. There will be no reimbursement for costs incurred in the course of the volunteer work.

For further information and expression of interest, please contact the library on 9688 0290 and ask to speak to the Outreach Services Librarian.
