Have your say: Maribyrnong Libraries Plan 2026-30
Published on 07 October 2025
In July 2025, the community was invited to share their ideas to help shape the development of the draft Libraries Plan. Almost 700 people told us they value libraries for more than just books - they are places that reflect our community’s hopes, stories and aspirations
A new plan to deliver libraries for a creative, connected community
Council wants to work with the community to create spaces, services and activities where everyone feels welcome.
Libraries aren’t just about books and information – they’re also about connecting people with each other and with helpful services. Whether you visit online or in person, we want your time with us to feel fun, inspiring and worth remembering.
All around the world, libraries are trusted and important places. With the draft Plan, we promise to make the most of that role. Each year, we’ll focus on helping people feel like they belong, building stronger community connections, and sparking new ideas and inspiration for everyone.
You can learn more about the draft Maribyrnong Libraries Strategic Plan 2026 by downloading the document in full to learn more about the goals, why we think they're important and how we will deliver this over the next four years.
How to participate
We need your help to finalise the Libraries Plan. Does it reflect what matters most to you? Your feedback will help finalise the draft before it goes to Council for consideration in late 2025. You can share your feedback online, in person or by sending us an email. Engagement closes midnight Sunday 19 October 2025.
