Beats Workshop with Kuya Neil

Explore hardware production with Akai MPC One and the Roland SP404 to explore club music and hip-hop production. In this workshop, Neil will demonstrate workflow and provide tips and advice on using these machines. 

For young people aged 12 to 18 years only

Meet the facilitator

Kuya Neil (he/him) is a heavyweight of Melbourne’s underground hip-hop scene. His fluidity as a producer is evident in his diverse collaborations and projects - soundtracking the left-field representations of rap, contemporary club music and visual art in Australia.

Outside of his music practice, Neil has been involved in grassroots community education since 2018, coordinating and running accessible electronic music programs with Melbourne Sound School.

  • Tips and advice on using hardware drum machines.
