Working with Schools
Schools are a vital part of our community and we recognise that in order to support young people we need to engage with and work collaboratively with our local secondary schools. We have a particular interest in health and wellbeing issues identified by young people.
What we offer to schools
Run activities at schools that recognise significant calendar events throughout the year that young people are passionate about including:
- International Women’s Day
- IDAHOBIT
- Harmony Day
- RUOK Day
- NADOC week
- Wear It Purple Day
- Mental Health Week
- 16 Days of Activism
- World Environment Day
Work collaboratively with schools and students to develop and delivered programs that are essential to their health and wellbeing including:
- Sexual and reproductive health
- Negotiating respectful relationships
- Awareness raising diversity, gender equality and sexuality.
Connect school and students to external support services like, counselling, housing, employment and recreation.
We are also available to support school staff wellbeing and can do this in many ways including;
- Access to our bi-monthly Maribyrnong Workers with Young People Network and network e-news
- Secondary consult
- Holiday programs
We look forward to exploring with school and young people their ideas on how we can best support them and where we are unable to, we will link you into agencies that can.
