Celebrate National Families Week 2025 with a Families Week Art Tour!

Families of all ages are invited to a walking tour of a selection of street art murals created as part of Maribyrnong City Council’s StreetWORKS program. Learn more about the process of creating a large-scale mural and discuss the creative ideas behind these artworks in an accessible walk around Barkly and Donald Streets, Footscray.

After our tour, we will walk back to Footscray Library together, where children can create their own drawings inspired by public art, browse art-related books from the Library, and enjoy a light snack.

When: Meet at 11am on Thursday 15 and Saturday 17 May 2025.

Meet: Laneway on the eastern side of Chemist Warehouse (190 Barkly St, facing Blackston St, Footscray).

Important notes:

Please bring a water bottle.
Wear comfortable shoes, sun protection and pack warmer clothes if needed.
If it is raining, this event may be postponed. You will be informed the day prior.
This event requires crossing some roads when returning to Footscray Library. Please ensure you have enough adults with your group to supervise any children in your care when they are near roads.
Please note, the first 30 minutes of this activity occurs outdoors, about 5 minutes' walk away from bathroom facilities.
