Fairwork Ombudsman

A government agency that helps workers and employers understand and enforce workplace laws in Australia. It provides free advice and information about pay, conditions, rights, minimum wages, leave, and how to deal with workplace problems. It also investigates cases where laws may have been broken and can take enforcement action.

Eligibility: Anyone working or employing in Australia.

Business Victoria

Part of the Victorian Government that provides information about laws and rules for employing children under 15 years old in Victoria. Employers must get a child employment license before they can lawfully employ someone under 15, and there are rules about hours, safety, and supervision to protect young workers.

Eligibility: Employers or parents of children under 15.

Worksafe Victoria

A state government authority in Victoria that focuses on workplace health and safety. WorkSafe helps ensure workplaces are safe and healthy for employees, including young workers. They provide guidance, inspect workplaces, enforce safety laws, and oversee workers’ compensation if someone is hurt at work.

Eligibility: Workers and employers in Victoria.

Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission

An independent statutory body in Victoria that protects and promotes human rights and equal opportunity. It helps people understand their rights under Victorian anti-discrimination and human rights laws, provides education and resources, and supports people if they’ve experienced discrimination, harassment, or related issues.

Eligibility: Anyone in Victoria facing discrimination or human rights

Workplace rights - Office for Youth

A government youth information hub that provides plain-language information about workplace rights, including pay, entitlements, safety, unpaid work experience, discrimination, and bullying. It points young workers to the right laws and resources so they can understand their rights at work.

Eligibility: Young workers and jobseekers.

Known ur workplace rights- Headspace

Headspace provides mental health and wellbeing support for young people, including resources about knowing your workplace rights and workplace health and safety laws — especially with a focus on how work can affect mental and physical wellbeing and where to go for help if you’re having a hard time at work.

Young workers and students- Fair work Ombudsman

A dedicated section of the Fair Work Ombudsman’s work aimed at young people and students, giving information about starting a job, knowing legal rights, pay rules, protections against unfair treatment, and how to get help if something doesn’t feel right at work.

Arrive & Thrive

Provides engaging high school career education workshops to help students explore careers and build job-ready skills.

Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley Local Learning and Employment Network

Helps young people (especially those facing barriers to employment) transition from school into study, training or work by connecting schools, community and industry.
Runs programs like Youth Mentoring Career Pathways (YMCP), including mentoring, work placements and skill-building workshops that help young people gain experience and confidence.

Free career support Centre (run by Victoria University) offering career counselling, job workshops, training guidance and resources for school-leavers and the general public.

Helps people with resume writing, career planning, interview skills, apprenticeships/traineeships and job readiness workshops.
