Curator’s guided tour – Encounters

Join us for a monthly tour of exhibition Encounters, led by the exhibition's curator.

Some tours will have a monthly theme that relates to the broader calendar, a community event or a cultural celebration.

About the exhibition:

Encounters is an exhibition that brings together works from Maribyrnong’s Art and Heritage Collection in new and surprising ways.

Inspired by the idea of the Wunderkammer (a ‘room of wonder’ that encourages curiosity and comparison), this exhibition showcases an eclectic array of the City’s Collection.

From heritage regalia to contemporary ceramics, works across mediums, time periods and styles are connected and interweaved. By blurring boundaries, the exhibition invites viewers to explore local narratives, shifting values and relationships across time.

About the tour:

This free, one-hour-long tour will provide deeper insights into the exhibited artworks and Council's Art and Heritage Collection. It is offered from 11am on the first Wednesday of each month for the duration of this exhibition.
