Mayor, Pradeep Tiwari and River Ward Councillor, Susan Yengi, officially opened the new outdoor section of MAC

Recently, City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Pradeep Tiwari, and River Ward Councillor, Susan Yengi, officially opened the new outdoor section of MAC, marking a new chapter for the Centre.

The outdoor training space enables members to work up a sweat in the fresh air and get a dose of Vitamin-D.

What was once a plain and unused entryway has been transformed into a functional outdoor training area—optimising previously disused space to enhance facilities for community members.

This 100-square-metre outdoor zone improves the amenity and accessibility of fitness resources for members. Designed to encourage physical activity in the fresh air, the partially undercover space is particularly beneficial during the cooler winter months when people tend to stay indoors.

As part of the upgrade, a range of new equipment has been added to MAC’s gym which includes:

  • Battle ropes
  • Push sled
  • Parallette bars
  • Kettlebells
  • Barbells
  • Boxing equipment
  • Weight plates
  • TRX suspension trainers & gymnastic rings

Guided by community feedback, the new space is dedicated to functional training, offering patrons a unique environment to work out in, along with additional group fitness classes such as Small Group sessions.

By relocating key pieces of equipment outdoors, extra room has been created on the main gym floor—providing members and guests with more space for stretching and strength training indoors.

MAC thanks all members and guests for their patience and understanding during this exciting upgrade.
