Notice to all entrants

The City of Maribyrnong’s premier aquatic recreation Centre Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC) has a strong focus on supporting all members of its community to be able to access the Centre. Concession rates on programs and services are available, and Council provides subsidised access for people and groups suffering financial disadvantage.

It is a term and condition of admission to the facility that the City of Maribyrnong and its servants and agents accept no liability of whatever description or any losses, injuries or death which may occur in this facility, however caused. By entering this facility, entrants accept that they do so at their own risk and accept that they waive and forgo any legal rights that they may otherwise have against the City of Maribyrnong and/or its servants and agents.

Watch Around Water

To help address the concern regarding the supervision of children at public aquatic facilities, MAC has implemented the ‘Watch Around Water’ program. This has been developed by Aquatics & Recreation Victoria and Life Saving Victoria to educate the public about adequate supervision and to encourage parents/guardians to take on this responsibility when visiting a public aquatic facility.

Children under 5 years old

  • Must wear a pink wristband
  • Must be accompanied into the Centre and the water by a responsible guardian over 16 years
  • Must stay within arm’s reach at all times, including when in prams
  • A maximum of two under 5s can be supervised by one guardian over 16
  • The guardian must wear the corresponding number of PINK wristbands to match their child/children at all times

 Children under 10 years old

  • Must wear a yellow wristband
  • Must be accompanied into the Centre by a responsible guardian over 16 years
  • Must be constantly and actively supervised
  • Guardians must position themselves to have a clear view of the child with no physical or structural barriers, including mobile phones or laptops
  • A maximum of four under-10s can be supervised by one guardian over 16
  • This may include a combination of up to two under-5s at any time
  • The guardian must wear the corresponding number of YELLOW wristbands to match their child/children at all times

Children 10 years and older

  • Guardians must use their judgment of the child’s swimming ability and general development to determine the appropriate level of supervision or accompaniment.
