Encounters exhibition
Step inside Encounters, a free exhibition at Footscray Town Hall inviting the viewer into a space of curiosity, discovery and imagination.
Drawn from the City of Maribyrnong’s Art and Heritage Collection, Encounters explores unexpected connections between artworks, objects and civic treasures. Inspired by the fifteenth-century Wunderkammer — or “room of wonder” — the exhibition brings photography, painting, textiles, ceramics, glass and memorabilia into thought-provoking dialogue.
Historical works sit alongside recent acquisitions and different mediums converse with one another, inviting visitors to uncover surprising relationships and see the City’s Collection in a new light.
The exhibition is available for viewing during Civic Precinct opening hours, with monthly curator tours at 11am on Wednesdays.
