AUSTSWIM: Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety

Run by AUSTSWIM, the Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (TSW) course is the benchmark for candidates looking to begin a career as a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.

This course provides the information required to professionally deliver swimming and water safety programs and services to a diverse range of people. This is the base accreditation that you must gain before you can attempt any of the AUSTSWIM specialist extension courses.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of all assessment requirements, candidates will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the following units:

SISCAQU023 - Plan swimming lessons
SISCAQU024 - Teach water familiarisation, buoyancy and mobility skills
SISCAQU020 - Perform water rescues
SISCAQU025 - Teach water safety and survival skills
SISCAQU026 - Teach swimming strokes

Health/Fitness

Course activities occur in shallow and deep water and are quite strenuous. Candidates should have a reasonable level of health/fitness and a reasonable swimming ability.
