Run by Life Saving Victoria (RTO ID 21799), this course will deliver the skills and knowledge required to select an appropriate progression of activities to promote the development of infants and toddlers over 6 months of age in an aquatic environment.

It applies to those conducting learn-to-swim and water safety classes in swimming pools and confined natural shallow water venues. This course will ensure that work is performed according to relevant legislation including working with children and/or vulnerable people checks, organisational policies and procedures and best practice principles of aquatic activities.

Candidates attending this course should hold a current SISCAQU024 Teach water familiarisation, buoyancy, and mobility and SISCAQU025 Teach water safety and survival skills prior to attending. These can be achieved by completing the LSV Swim Teachers training course. This course is an extension course for Swim Teachers looking to gain specialist knowledge in teaching infants and toddlers in the pool.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of "SISCAQU027 Promote development of infants and toddlers in an aquatic environment."

Health/Fitness

Course activities occur in shallow and deep water, and are quite strenuous. Candidates should have a reasonable level of health/fitness and a reasonable swimming ability.

This course is run and administered by Life Saving Victoria at MAC.
