The Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre Water Slides and Splash Park project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Council.
Council awarded the Head Contractor works contract to Circon Constructions Pty Ltd at the 21 October 2025 Council Meeting.
Works are set to resume onsite from November 2025.

Council has completed the evaluation phase and is scheduled for contract award at the Council Meeting on 21 October 2025.
Council has completed interviews with shortlisted tenderers.
Council is currently undertaking an evaluation process of submissions received from vendors.
Council has received all submissions from vendors completing the Request for Tender (Public) – Head Contractor Services, commencing evaluation phase.
With crucial preparatory steps completed, Council successfully initiated the Public Tender Process in April 2025, aiming to appoint a new contractor and resume construction to complete the works.
The project experienced an unforeseen setback in September 2023 with the liquidation of the head contractor, resulting in a temporary cessation of construction.
Following this disruption, a comprehensive review and redesign of the structural elements were undertaken, accompanied by thorough structural and civil site surveys to ensure accurate and up-to-date condition assessments, vital for the project's progression.
During this period, Council secured a Community Energy Upgrade Fund grant, leading to a strategic alteration of the Water Slides and Splash Park project design to replace all gas components with electric alternatives, aligning with and encouraging the Council's net-zero emissions strategy.
