Maribyrnong unveils a fresh new look
Published on 20 August 2026
The City of Maribyrnong has unveiled a refreshed brand designed to better reflect the vibrant, diverse and evolving city it serves.
The refresh uses one name, City of Maribyrnong, across Council and place branding. It also includes brighter colours, more images of people and places, and a saw-tooth design inspired by Maribyrnong's industrial heritage.
The refreshed identity is more than a new look. It is designed to make Council communications easier to recognise, navigate and engage with, while reflecting the City's unique character and the changes taking place across the community.
One of the first places residents will see the refreshed brand is The Memo, the Council's quarterly community newsletter, which replaces Maribyrnong Messenger.
The new name was suggested by a community member through a survey in the previous edition of Maribyrnong Messenger.
City of Maribyrnong Mayor Cr Mohamed Semra said the refresh reflects the pride the community has in Maribyrnong and its unique identity.
"Maribyrnong is a City with a proud history, strong community and a vibrant future. Our refreshed brand celebrates all of those things,” said Mayor Semra.
"It's a fresh look, that’s not change for change's sake. We want our communications to be more accessible, welcoming and reflective of the City we are today,” he continued.
The new brand will be introduced gradually across Council's communications and assets.
To ensure a responsible, sustainable and cost-effective transition, existing signage, uniforms, vehicles and other assets will continue to be used until they reach the end of their natural life. This approach will minimise waste and make the most of Council's existing resources while the refreshed brand is rolled out.
