Children’s Week

Children's Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children across Australia.

Children's Week 2026 will take place from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 and Council will host a range of fun and engaging events and activities across the City to celebrate this important week.

The theme for 2026 is "Children have the right to use their own language, celebrate their culture, and practice their religion" based on UNCRC Article 30.

Children’s Week activities are proudly presented by Maribyrnong City Council in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Traffic town pop up bike school

Join Active Maribyrnong for a day of fun at Traffic Town, an interactive, pop-up bike hub! Hansen Reserve, Roberts St, West Footscray, Saturday 24 October 2026 10am-2pm

Intergenerational bird walk

Come and join our intergenerational bird walk and storytelling experience. Pipemakers Park Van Ness Avenue, Maribyrnong Tuesday 27 October 9.45-11am and Cruickshank Park, 5 Court Street, Yarraville Wednesday 28 October 9.45-11am

Growing hungry caterpillars

Junior all abilities
