Councillor Support and Expenses Reports

Maribyrnong City Council is classified as a Category 2 Council as determined by the State Government. Annual allowances for the Mayor and Councillors are determined independently of Council by the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal: https://www.vic.gov.au/allowances-mayors-deputy-mayors-and-councillors.

The level of these annual allowances (from December 2024) are:

• Mayor: $111,987
• Deputy Mayor: $55,994
• Councillors: $34,028

The Local Government Act 2020 requires Council to adopt and maintain a policy in relation to the reimbursement of expenses, and it is Council's policy to make Councillor expenditure public by reporting to Council quarterly, with reports made available on Council's website for the current term.
