Construction will soon resume at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC) as part of a more than $16 million redevelopment, including the addition of two new water slides and a splash park.

The design now includes all-electric components, supporting our transition from gas to electric heating for our pools, while also reducing running costs.

“MAC is loved by our community, receiving more than 700,000 visitors each year. This upgrade will provide modern facilities and more spaces for our community to connect, cool off and have fun,” Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari said.

“I’m very pleased to have these works go ahead after significant delays due to the liquidation of our initial contractor,” he added.

Circon Constructions Pty Ltd will be taking over the work site in November, and further information about upcoming works and any impacts to services at MAC will be available in the coming weeks.

The splash park and water slides are scheduled to open from mid-2027 along with a new change village including family-friendly, gender-neutral, and accessible change rooms.

This project is jointly funded by the State Government and Council, and will see a 400 square metre aquatic leisure park installed at the Centre.
